In the van segment, making the most of the cargo area is what counts. That is why we are presenting a comparison of two fit-out projects for models from the Stellantis group: the Toyota Proace and the Peugeot Partner.
The transport section of both vehicles looks the same at base level. The differences appear in the details of the fit-out.
Wheel arch covers
In the Peugeot Partner we fitted panelling along the entire side of the vehicle and enlarged wheel arch covers, which create additional storage space. This solution makes better use of the transport area in the van.
In the Toyota Proace we also used enlarged wheel arch covers, but we additionally boxed in the window recesses, which significantly increased the storage space. The recesses are protected with aluminium trims, which improves durability and resistance to damage.
Floor and side sill
In the first model we kept the standard entry sill, which can be a good solution for users who frequently step into the cargo area - especially during intensive service work.
In the second vehicle the floor was widened by covering the sills on both sides of the side doors. This creates a uniform, wider usable surface, which makes loading and transport easier.
Floor protection and service opening cover
Both vans are built on 12 mm anti-slip hexa plywood, which provides durability and solid protection for the cargo area. In one of the models we additionally used a rubber mat cut to the shape of the floor - it increases cargo grip and further protects the floor from wear.
In both vans we fitted a service opening cover that gives convenient access to the spare wheel. The part was made using 3D printing, so it fits the vehicle's structure precisely.
