Special-purpose fit-out of a Ford Transit L3H2 for OSP Rudziczka - mobile drone monitoring centre

For OSP Rudziczka we built a special-purpose fit-out for a vehicle that serves as a mobile drone monitoring centre. The project covered the complete fit-out of the passenger and cargo areas, a roof structure, aluminium systems, and elements for transporting and operating the drone equipment.

Interior fit-out and materials used

To cover the windows and build the interior panels and walls, we used 6.5 mm laminated plywood, and in the passenger area we also added an upholstered finish. The floor in the cargo and passenger areas is made of 12 mm waterproof Premium anti-slip hexa plywood.

In the cargo area we fitted the side and rear walls, as well as a bulkhead separating the cargo area from the passenger area. The bulkhead was also finished on the passenger side. The fit-out is complemented by plywood seat enclosures at the front and sides, and by covers for two wheel arches.

In the cargo area we also used checker plate, which forms a durable protective layer on the floor. This solution works well in a space used to transport equipment, where resistance to heavy use and mechanical damage matters.

Roof structure and exterior equipment

The vehicle roof was built in layers - first a plywood base was prepared, then the surface was protected with checker plate. We used the same approach in the cargo area, where the floor has a plywood base and a checker plate finish.

On the roof we installed a roof rack, a stainless steel mast and an aluminium mast mount. The structure is complemented by a black car mount for roof installation and an antenna installation carried out by us.

These solutions make it possible to use the vehicle roof as additional mounting space for the elements required by the mobile monitoring centre.

Aluminium systems and drone handling equipment

In the vehicle we installed a pull-out aluminium system for a large TV and a pull-out aluminium system for a keyboard.

For storing and transporting the drones, we built a shelving unit made of an aluminium frame and plywood shelves.

Complex electrical and multimedia installation

One of the more complex elements of the project was the electrical and multimedia installation, designed to power and operate the devices used by OSP Rudziczka. The installation includes both 12 V and 230 V circuits and extensive data and HDMI signal transmission infrastructure.

The fit-out includes a 12 V panel with two USB ports, 230 V sockets (including sockets with a cover), circuit breakers, automotive fuses, large and double 12 V fuse boxes, a 12 V rectifier, as well as a UPS and batteries. The installation is also equipped with a WiFi switch, a splitter and an HDMI transmitter/receiver.

Communication and signal transmission are handled by, among others, USB 3.0, USB-A to USB-C, Ethernet, and HDMI 2.1 and HDMI Premium cables, as well as USB-C adapters and a DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 1.4 adapter supporting 4K UHD and two HDMI outputs. The installation also uses Baseus cables and suitable power supplies for Toshiba, NEC and Samsung devices, as well as 25 W chargers.

Everything was designed to power and connect each piece of equipment, including the router, radio, mixers, monitors, cameras, antenna, and the mounts and mounting systems for each device. The extensive installation allows the devices to be arranged in an orderly way, powered safely and operated efficiently.

The fit-out combines transport, storage and operational functions, providing space to carry the drones and necessary equipment and to set up a workstation.
